Every year, the Municipality of Novellara hosts Miss Anguria (Miss Watermelon) against the charming backdrop of its main square.

This 20-year-old tradition combines music, food and drinks with a much-anticipated contest: the crowning of the heaviest Anguria Reggiana IGP (local watermelon). In 2025, the winning watermelon weighed over 109 kilograms!
