A walk through Poviglio
Partendo dal centro di Poviglio, troviamo presso Piazza Umberto I, la Chiesa di Santo Stefano la quale rimane l'elemento più antico tra gli edifici presenti, siamo intorno al 1250.
Lasciandoci alle spalle la chiesa si arriva in pochi minuti al Museo della Terramara Santa Rosa, visitabile e con al suo interno una collezione in continua evoluzione grazie agli scavi archeologici situati nella frazione di Fodico attivi dal 1984, questi rappresentato uno dei siti attivi più importanti d'Europa.
Continuando la passeggiata verso ovest si arriva alle Ex cave Corazza, oggi un'oasi di circa 5 ettari che offre ospitalità ad un ricco numero di specie animali, mentre fino al 1930 fu cava di argilla per la produzione edilizia.
Di particolare interesse è l'elevato numero di Ville private che si possono ammirare esternamente, questa zona ha un legame stretto con le famiglie nobili residenti nella città ducale di Parma di un tempo, questi avevano la propria sede abitativa presso la città, ma detenevano importanti possedimenti terrieri proprio nella zona di Poviglio - sono previste aperture straordinarie solo in alcuni momenti dell'anno.
Starting from the center of Poviglio, in Piazza Umberto I visitors will find the Church of Santo Stefano, the oldest surviving building in the town, dating back to 1250.
Leaving the church behind, in just a few minutes you will reach the Terramara Santa Rosa Museum, open to visitors and housing an ever-growing collection thanks to the ongoing archaeological excavations in the locality of Fodico, active since 1984. These excavations represent one of the most important Bronze Age sites currently under investigation in Europe.
Continuing westward, you will arrive at the former Corrazza quarries, now a natural oasis covering approximately 5 hectares and hosting a rich variety of animal species, while until 1930 the area was used as a clay quarry for the construction industry.
Of particular interest is the high number of private Villas, which can be admired from the outside. These residences are located in an area historically linked to the noble families of the ducal city of Parma, who maintained their main homes in the city while owning extensive landholdings in the Poviglio area. Exceptional openings of the Villas are scheduled only during specific times of the year.
