La Golena: Boretto's Floodplain
Boretto is a key center for cultural, industrial and leisure activities connected to the River Po. Many elements in the area recall its fluvial heritage: near the former pontoon bridge that once linked the two banks (of which traces still remain), you’ll see an anchor from a large vessel recently recovered from the river, along with tools, equipment, and signage used to regulate river traffic.
"La Presa" is a fascinating hydraulic structure, consisting of a pumping system that draws water from the Po and channels it into the Cavo Fiuma and, from here, into the broader canal system of the Po Valley.
Near Boretto’s Lido (its riverside area) you’ll also find a Big Bench: the very first one built along the Po’s banks in Emilia Romagna.
