Mario Pavesi

The sculptor and painter Mario Pavesi was born in Guastalla in 1945. After completing high school, he enrolled at the Accademia delle Belle Arti of Bologna, where he attended Umberto Mastroianni’s sculpture classes: it was there that he developed a technique based on bronze and copper, aimed at dynamism while remaining inspired by classical tradition.

At the Academy, Pavesi met the sculptor Dante Carpigiani who, together with the Novellara painter Vivaldo Poli, would later become a reference point for his human and artistic growth.

During his forty years of activity, Pavesi explored a variety of pictorial and sculptural paths, always distancing himself from the logic of the market and fleeting fashions, and remaining devoted to the sphere of emotion and the relentless search of one’s tormented inner self.

Today, alongside his artistic production, Pavesi devotes himself to educational activities through training courses of various levels. He currently lives in Novellara.

Over the years, in addition to exhibitions in his familiar Novellara and in the nearby Reggiolo and Correggio, Pavesi has held shows in Parma, Riccione, Milan, Mantua, and abroad in Brussels, Stockholm and Kazakhstan.

Today travelers can encounter some of his open-air works while walking through Reggiolo’s enchanting alleys: the artist himself donated them to the municipality.
