"Ex Cave Corazza" Oasis

The former Corazza Quarries (Ex Cave Corazza), locally known as “i Buson ed Corasa” (En. Corazza’s big pits), are located on the outskirts of Poviglio.

Originally a clay pit used for producing bricks, roof tiles and floor tiles, the site remained active until 1930.
In the late 1980s, it was acquired for public ownership with the aim of creating a natural area for educational purposes. Today, this oasis covers about five hectares and is characterized by dense, predominantly hygrophilous vegetation, including reeds and groves of poplars, oaks and willows. It is home mainly to birds, reptiles and mammals such as hares, foxes and hedgehogs.

A network of paths runs through the oasis, equipped with thematic panels that illustrate its key features.
