Church of Santa Maria Annunziata

The original church stood further north, within the floodplain, until repeated floods of the River Po undermined its stability. The current single-nave church with six side chapels - dedicated to Saint Mary of the Annunciation -  was built on its present site between 1653 and 1670.

Its white and polychrome stucco decorations were crafted by Martino Ferraboschi, already active in San Pietro in Rome at the time. Notable features include the wooden choir loft on the upper part of the counterfaçade (1879) and a 19th-century organ with 700 pipes. The red marble baptismal font - actually holy water stoup - dates back to 1670, while the walnut choir stalls were completed in 1677.
