Gonzaga Museum
The Museo Gonzaga (Gonzaga Museum) is housed in the breathtaking rooms of the 16th-century apartments of the Counts Gonzaga, located on the piano nobile (main floor) of the family Rocca (a fortress). This residence was originally designed, built and decorated under the supervision of Lelio Orsi. Several rooms hosting the Museum’s collections feature coffered ceilings and imposing 16th-century fireplaces made of Verona marble. On display are numerous paintings by Lelio Orsi himself, together with many other artworks and artefacts that evoke the period when Novellara was a splendid county governed by the Gonzaga dynasty.
