Church of San Rocco

Originally built as a 15th-century oratory, the Chiesetta di San Rocco (Church of Saint Roch) was rebuilt in 1578 and again in 1760.

It stands along Via Matteotti, Reggiolo’s main street. Its most distinctive feature is the statue of the Madonnina nella Roccia (Little Madonna in the Rock), which has earned it the affectionate local nickname “Chiesa della Madonnina di Lourdes” (Church of Our Lady of Lourdes).

The church displays a tall, slender façade, framed by Doric pilasters and crowned with a curvilinear pediment. The bell tower ends in a belfry with single lancet openings and a cusped roof. Inside, the building is based on a quadrangular plan, surmounted by an elliptical dome supported by columns and semi-columns and topped by a small cupola.
